About Cathie Kavanagh

Cathie Kavanagh is a quilter and school teacher who lives on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.

She took up quilting in 2000 after being inspired by her sisters first quilts.

By 2004 Cathie started inviting quilting friends to meet regularly at her home in the Gold Coast hinterland.

In 2009 Cathie launched her own quilting blog at HandMadeQuilt.org to record the stories of her quilt group and promote quilter networks.

“Two Spare Seats” is the invitation for any quilters visiting the Gold Coast to attend the quilting group that meets at Cathie’s home.

In addition visitors to the HandMadeQuilt.org website can register their own quilt groups “Two Spare Seats”.
